breakups after 40
Do you remember when you were a teenager and had your first breakup? It felt like the world had come to an end and you would never recover. Of course you moved on, usually within a much shorter time than you ever expected. The next guy or girl came along and your ex was history. Sometimes it happens that was as an adult and sometimes the healing time after a breakup takes much longer. If you are starting over after 40 because of a breakup, it hits hard because you wonder if you will find someone again at your age. The possibility to find love again after 40 is certainly there.
After a breakup there is a healing process. It isn't something you can avoid. It isn't something you should avoid because the feelings will surface at some point. It's important to heal before entertaining the thought of getting into a new relationship. Rebound relationships tend not to have a long lifespan. A breakup is an opportunity to learn more about yourself and how to be better in a relationship. Nobody is perfect and everyone has room for improvement. After the worst breakup of my life I learned that I give too much, too soon. I always thought that giving is a good thing, but I realized I need to pace myself better. I have also learned more about what I should and shouldn't accept in a person I choose to be in my life and how to weed them out quickly. It isn't about judging people, but using careful discernment and knowing who best fits into your life. Breaking up after 40 is especially hard because the years are slipping away. Still, you have much life to live whether you are single or you find a new and better relationship. Giving up on finding someone who is right for you will get you nowhere. Being the best person you can be and keeping faith that your life will be great no matter what will get you somewhere. After a breakup, take care of yourself. Give yourself time to heal. Don't rush into a new relationship just to feel better. In time, you will blossom once again. Click to browse breakup articles |
